Murphy's law {Paper}

Murphy's Law

I was curious about Murphy's law, and I asked my mom about it, but instead of telling me about it, she made me write a paper. So here's what I learned.

To start, the law is "If anything can go wrong, it will.". Murphy's law started at Edwards Air Force base in 1949. The law was named after Captain Edward A. Murphy. The story goes that after finding something wired wrong, he said about the technician who messed up "If there is any way to do something wrong, he will find it." Apparently the contract manager kept a list of 'Laws' and he added what Murphy said and called it 'Murphy's Law'. So this is the story of how Murphy's law came to be.

Many people however don't think that its Murphy's law, but Sod's law. The reason for this is that this guy from many many years ago was having things go wrong for him all the time, but the thing is, apparently Sod was around before documents, so there really is now proof.

Murphy's law is something that many people today all over the world still relate to, however, I don't think many people really understand what they are talking about. Just the other day my dad mentioned Murphy's law but I don't think he used it in the right context. When he said it, he made it sound like he was saying that if he said something wouldn't go wrong, then it would. This wouldn't be the right context tho, because Murphy's law is talking about if there is a way for something to go wrong, than it will.

So this is my essay, and I looked up information  but I couldn't quite make it to five hundred words, but what I did find was very interesting, and I'm very happy to know the story behind Murphy's law.

Hope you enjoyed

Silence

Silence,
not a noise,
just the faint sound of cat feet on the floor.
Creepy, yet peaceful.
Slowly I fall asleep,
forgetting the bad, dreaming the good.
A movement, than THUMP!
The kitten jumped on the bed.
Snuggling close to my warm body, purring loudly,
we both fall asleep.
And the silence remains.

My story

I still did t understand the raspy voice on the other end of the phone, and quite frankly, I didn't really want to know. It scared me, knowing that I had put my family in danger, and I don't quite know how to fix it. I got a text message from Kayla. "All is fine here, you okay?". I didn't really know how to reply so I texted back "ya, all is good."

My parents pulled in the driveway, when they came inside I asked if anything strange had happened
"Nothing other than your phone call." Mom said
"Are you sure, did anyone follow you or anything?" I asked
"No, not that I can think of."

I still didn't know what to think. Everything was just so puzzling. I went for a walk to try to clear my head. As I walked I absorbed everything around me, the sounds, the smells. That I heard something, a faint noise, sounding like a muffled cough. I couldn't tell where it was from because of the echoing among the trees, but I knew it was close. Almost as if it was following me.
"Hello?!" I yelled. Nothing, no noise, just complete silence. The silence these days was driving me crazy. As I counting to walk I heard another sound. This time I spun around to see my good friend, Allie, walking behind me.
"What are you doing here?" I hissed
"I got your message, you sounded like you were worried, is everything alright?" Allie replied
"I'm not sure..." I said "I'm not really sure of anything anymore..."

It was all my fault

"She's in danger... It's all my fault..." That was what I kept saying over and over again in my head. I couldn't believe I had let this happen. The truth is, none of this should have happened, I was completely covered... Yet somehow they found me, and they dragged the people I love into it.

The story goes like this. I was adopted, but what my parents didn't know was what I did before they adopted me. I was trained alongside other children. We were trained to be agents. When I got older, after I was adopted, I learned that I was the last agent to keep using their training for good. The rest of them had either ruined their cover or had begun using their training for bad. Learning this I decided to settle down and live a normal life.

A few months ago I got some weird letters from people I didn't recognize  they weren't anything big, just them saying "We know your secret" or "You can't hide anymore", I guess I just didn't really thing anything of it.

Needless to say, they found me, and they do know  my secret, a secret I have been trying to forget for years. And now the people I loved were in danger. I checked my phone, still no messages from Kayla. So I decided to call the number.
"Hello?" I said.
"We know your secret, you can't hide anymore." A raspy voice said
"What do you want?" I replied
"We know your secret, you can't hide anymore." The raspy voice repeated
"I asked you a question!" I yelled
"We know your secret, you can't hide anymore." The voice repeated. I hung up the phone. The more I thought about it, the weirder it seemed. Why would it repeat itself, was it a machine, a recording? But most of all... What was going on....
